What Betrayal Is

When you saw the title of this post, did scenarios of betrayal come to your mind? Well scenarios of betrayal came to my mind because I've been betrayed quite a number of times. Don't worry, I'll tell you about a few of them. Once I was acting all calm and reserved. I didn't want to make it known that I was in dire need of food. In that moment did my stomach decide to growl. It made noise so loud that my hunger was made known to those that were present. I felt betrayed. How could it? How could my stomach betray me like that?? Another time, I was asked if I had gotten medication for catarrh. I replied: "no, I'm fine now". You guessed right. My body chose that moment to let out a sneeze. This is a few among the other times I've been betrayed. The dictionary seems to have several definitions of betrayal. But I like to see betrayal as more of deceit and deliberate  disloyalty. Betrayal involves breaking of trust. You know, a person once said "

Amazing Facts About Classroom Teachers

Guide, conduct, pass on knowledge, educate, instruct - these are words you'll find associated with teachers. Who is a teacher?         A teacher isn't necessarily the one in a classroom, with a cane in his hand telling you to solve problems in maths, with you going like.. "Sir, how does this equation help my life???".      A teacher is one that educates you. Guides you and gives you instructions that helps grow your knowledge in a particular field. While a teacher could be a friend, a parent, a relative or a random person on the street - all that's needed for a person to qualify as a teacher is that he passes on knowledge. Our focus today, is the classroom teacher. Classroom teachers are as beautiful as every other teacher . Maybe even more beautiful. Classroom teachers are professional personnel who work with students as a whole. Whether in a classroom, in small groups or one-on-one meeting inside or outside a regular classroom. AMAZING FACTS ABOUT CL

What Friendship Is

"It's just me, myself and I". This was my status on one of my social media accounts some years back. This saying also played a great role in my life. I was a lone wolf. I didn't have friends and I didn't want friends. I thought I was complete all by myself. I thought I didn't need the company of others. I didn't understand the importance and sweetness of friendship until I got a taste of it. Friendship I realised was the basis of any good relationship. We're course mates and we have a group work together? I realised that it was easier to work on group projects with friends. And that working on group projects became easier and more fun, when my course mates became my friends. Friendship I've realised goes beyond words. Friendship is love. Friendship is patience. Friendship is arguments, it is small fights and it is forgiveness. Friendship is company. Friendship is food when there's famine. Friendship is hope in moments of despair. Friendshi

How Inspiration Comes

It comes in form of a rush. I mean my inspiration. Just a moment ago, it wasn't here and now its here. One thing I'm sure of - if I don't put this down right now, it'll be gone and I wouldn't have it back. If by chance I get it back, it wouldn't be the way it came now. Inspiration's weird right? But what can we do? Have I mentioned already that its inspiration to write that I refer to in this post? I like to sleep with a pen and paper on my bed, because right when I close my eyes to sleep, that's when the words come to me. Now I have two options. I either close my eyes and dream, or I pick up my pen and paper to pour down ink. The end result of the first is a good sleep. While the end result of the second, is what you now read. Well then, this doesn't mean that when I drop my pen, I wouldn't sleep. I still will. But inspiration comes from several other things. Inspiration could come from how the clock ticks. It could come from how your

Saying Goodbye

Have you ever had to move to a different city? That's not the big question. Big question is, have you ever had to move to a different city alone? Leaving your family and loved ones behind? If you have, then you'd relate to this more. You'd understand when I speak of that sickly feeling you get in your stomach or when I speak of the tears that seem to bite your eye. You'd understand when I speak of the lump you feel in your throat because of the tear you won't let come out. You'd understand  when I speak of crying in a bus. You'd understand when I speak of wanting love so much. You'd understand when I say I don't like saying goodbye. Cos saying goodbye is hard. Its good that you understand  the terrific feeling that comes just from saying goodbye. Since you understood that, Its easy then to say that you understand that saying goodbye is an exhibition of courage. That saying goodbye is a symbol of greatness. That saying goodbye means you've

Growth Is Gradual

Think of increase -there you have it. That's growth.  Growth in simple terms refers to increase. Growth could either be increase in size, value, number, what have you. But when you refer to growth as a person, growth could be physical, spiritual, intellectual , psychological, financial, the list goes on. Growth has its stages. It doesn't happen in a day. Most times, a foetus stays nine months in its mother's womb. During this period, growth in the foetus is evident but not immediate. A proof, that growth is a gradual process. The problem is, many expect growth to happen immediately. They expect to become good at what they just started in a short span. I give credit to geniuses and fast learners, but think of it.. You crawled before you walked! And even when you started to walk..you didn't just stand, move one foot after the other and it all went smooth. It took time to perfect walking - an act that you probably don't think much of now before doing. So why

Steps

As you take small steps - each leading to greatness, in your quiet moments, think of those that have helped you come as far as you have. Yes, you're not there yet, but think of days when you wished you'll be where you are now. Maybe you never thought you'll be where you are now, yet you are not where you were a few years ago. Smile as you think of the efforts of several people to get you where you are. It was all your handiwork? No one helped you get here? Then think of your parents. Think of your friends. Think of those that have recommended you. Think of those kind words that were said to you. Those kind words that gave you courage to take another bold step. Those kind words that were said that inspired you to do more. Think - really think of those tiny help that seem insignificant but gave you strength on the inside. Now you see? You've not been alone on this journey. People have directly or indirectly supported you. Appreciate them. It wasn't just the

Drive

Every human has his innate desire. Something he aspires to be. Something he lives to achieve. For some, what keeps them going is their desire for fame. For others, their desire to attain wealth keeps them moving. Some stay alive to see their children grow. Some stay alive cos they're scared to die. Some keep going even when it gets though because they have hope for a better future. Whatever a person's reason may be, what keeps them moving is what they live for. Find what drives you. What inspires you. What gives you the motivation to stay strong. What makes you stand out.  Find what drives you and hold on to it!
