Friendship; Gold, Silver or None

Written by: Olawoye Sunday Mayowa In a recent interview with Pastor Poju Oyemade of the Covenant Christian center, Pastor E. A. Adeboye, of the Redeemed Christian Church of God said "make new friends, and keep the old,  one is silver while the other is gold". This statement has further awaken thoughts about friendship and relationship in our age. Our generation is littered with people with little or no friends, some keep a limited friend cycle while others have situational friends. The raging questions in people's hearts are: Why should I have friends at all?  Why should I keep an old friend?  If you ask the question "why should I have friends at all?" This is your answer;  It's a common saying that "if you want to achieve faster, go alone, if you want to achieve faster and go farther, go with a friend."  Friendship is synonymous to having company, while Companionship means having people around to do things in common, think, help an...

Be SMART and S.M.A.R.T

Written by: Sulyman Abdulsomad Everyone is expected to be smart, although, the word "Smart" has different meanings depending on the context in which it is used. The word could mean that a person is well dressed, clean and tidy. It is also used to qualify  a noun, preferably a person, who possesses the act of being intelligent, able to make good judgement and also can make reasonable and remarkable decision. Also, the word can be used to qualify a clothe that looks attractive and stylish. In some instances, the word is used as a guide in the settings of an organization or individual objectives; for example, project presentation and management. If Ramadan Isn't Enough Motivation

Assalamualaikum. I pray this meets you well. Ramadan Mubarak So you spent months thinking what went wrong with your relationship with God. You thought of reasons why you're so far from God. Why it's not so easy to recite the Qur'an anymore. Why you don't pray nawafil anymore. In fact, you can't even remember the last time you prayed tahajjud. Not wanting to blame yourself, you gladly put the blame on work. Don't smile. Yes, you. You that put the blame on school. You also don't have enough excuse. Now when you speak you say, "I used to read the Qur'an." "I used to spend my night in prayers." Do you hear yourself? "I used to." May Allah rectify our affairs. Now Ramadan is here and you let the days and nights go by like every other day and night? Did you hear the applause? Its for you. You're fasting Ramadan, Alhamdullilah! You spend your day fasting but is that enough? No, you don't recite the Qur'an. Y...

A Special Teacher

Jean Thompson stood in front of her fifth grade class on the very first day of school in the fall and told the children a lie. Like most teachers, she looked at her pupils and said that she loved them all the same, that she would treat them all alike. And that was impossible because there in front of her, slumped in his seat on the third row, was a little boy named Teddy Stoddard. Mrs. Thompson had watched Teddy the year before and noticed he didn't play well with the other children, that his clothes were unkept and that he constantly needed a bath. And Teddy was unpleasant. It got to the point during the first few months that she would actually take delight in marking his papers with a broad red pen, making bold X's and then marking the F at the top of the paper biggest of all. Because Teddy was a sullen little boy, no one else seemed to enjoy him, either. At the school where Mrs. Thompson taught, she was required to review each child's records and put Teddy...

"Hasten towards good deeds" she says, "and be earnest in seeking the forgiveness of your Lord and my Lord - Allah, the Almighty." "Remember please to remember Allah as much as possible. Remember to restrain anger and to Lower your gaze. Keep in mind that not only your stomach fasts, but your entire being fasts too. "She says. "May Allah increase us in taqwa and rectify our affairs." she prays. As a final note, Zaynerb says to caution the tongue of lies and backbiting.
